The Daniel Trust Foundation is pleased to announce that Westport, CT based philanthropists "The Spear Family" have contributed $500 to The Daniel Trust Foundation in support of the 4th Annual Daniel Trust Awards, which will be hosted on Friday, June 2 at the Holiday Inn in Bridgeport, Connecticut. "I have never met a family that is so loving and giving like The Spear Family," said Daniel Trust, Founder and CEO of The Daniel Trust Foundation. "Meeting Hallie Spear when I spoke at Staples High School two years ago was certainly a blessing. I am so thankful to The Spear Family for everything they have done to help me push the Foundation's mission forward."
Phoebe, Hallie and Ellen Spear shown in the photo above with Daniel Trust are Co-Founders of Phoebe's Phriends, a nonprofit organization with a mission to find a cure for pediatric cancer. Phoebe's Phriends has held several events to raise awareness, money, and has engaged over 5,000 participants, 500 volunteers, raising over $160,000 for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The Spear Family's contribution to the Daniel Trust Foundation will be used to support students in our college scholarship program. Once students graduate from our high school mentoring program, they receive a $2,000 scholarship ($500 per year for 4 years) to help them pay for their college textbooks and other related college expenses.
