On November 2, 2017, Daniel Trust Foundation, an award-winning youth development nonprofit organization that invests in and supports low-income students with their educational and professional goals, hosted The 4th Annual Cocktails with Daniel Trust, an event the Foundation hosts every year in November to thank members of its community, celebrate its success and the impact the Foundation is making in the lives of young people.

“Tonight’s event is always a wonderful party where Daniel Trust thanks everyone who supports the Foundation and all the students come and they tell us their stories. I loved it!” said Fiona Hodgson, Executive Director of Housatonic Community College Foundation and a member of the Daniel Trust Foundation Advisory Board and Monthly Giving Program. “There is great food as well and you get to meet other people who are involved with the Foundation, and you meet the students and that’s what it’s all about tonight.”

In addition to celebrating its success, thanking donors and supporters at Cocktails with Daniel Trust, the Foundation announced that it plans to expand and replicate its high school mentoring, college scholarship and teacher recognition programs to New York City starting in January 2018. “I have great news to share with you tonight,” said Daniel Trust, President and CEO of Daniel Trust Foundation, at the event. “I am so excited to announce that we are expanding and replicating our award-winning programs to New York City next year. I have dreamed of supporting low-income students in NYC for a very longtime. I am very happy we are finally going to make it happen.”

To recruit students to join the Daniel Trust Foundation Mentoring Program, this Fall the Foundation created partnerships with two New York City high schools: Bronx Academy of Letters and The Facing History School, and New York On Tech, an innovative nonprofit organization that provides low-income students with technology skills, mentorship and internship opportunities. From the many applications the Foundation received from November 1st to November 30th, it will select 10 students from New York City and 10 students from Bridgeport, Connecticut to participate in the mentoring program in January 2018. The Foundation’s new office in New York City will be located at Blender and it will maintain its office in Bridgeport, CT at The B:Hive.

“I thought tonight was fantastic,” said Robert Smith, a Consultant with Social Venture Partners (SVP) and a member of the Daniel Trust Foundation Advisory Board and Monthly Giving Program, when asked what he thought about Cocktails with Daniel Trust and the impact the Foundation is making in the community. “The people in the room, all of us caring about the lives of the young people and the number of people the Foundation has impacted, is just incredible.” The 4th Annual Cocktail with Daniel Trust was sponsored by Stephen J. Perry and Praxair, Inc.
