Daniel Trust Foundation, an award-winning youth development nonprofit organization with offices in New York City and Bridgeport, Connecticut, is pleased to announce that it will host its annual awards dinner, The Daniel Trust Awards, on Thursday, June 7, 2018, 6:00 PM at the Holiday Inn in Bridgeport, Connecticut. At the dinner, 12 high school seniors who are graduating from the Daniel Trust Foundation High School Mentoring Program will become college scholars in the Daniel Trust Foundation College Scholarship Program, and 12 high school teachers and educators will be honored and recognized.
This year marks the 5th year Daniel Trust Foundation is hosting this inspiring event. Over 200 supporters and donors of Daniel Trust Foundation are expected to attend The 5th Annual Daniel Trust Awards. In addition to honoring the 12 high school seniors and 12 teachers, the Foundation will also honor 5 of its college scholars—Jocelyn Mendez, Anmol Tabassum, Diamond Allen, Natalie Ortiz and Micheline Amisi—who are graduating from American University, Fairfield University, North Carolina Wesleyan College, University of Bridgeport and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in May 2018.
“I cannot believe this year will mark 5 years since I have been hosting The Daniel Trust Awards,” said Daniel Trust, President and CEO of Daniel Trust Foundation. “It has been an honor to serve our students over the years and I cannot wait to see many of them shine at The 5th Annual Daniel Trust Awards.”
The 12 high school seniors who will receive the Daniel Trust Foundation College Scholarship at The 5th Annual Daniel Trust Awards are—Doubenz Fabius, Fabiola Garcia, Guy Guery, Mohammed Khair, Beatriz Guevara, Reyes Huerta, Emperatriz Mendoza, Akbar Niyonkuru, Esther Kamengele, Mike Paul, Khalid Muhammed, and Essence Wellington. The names of the 12 teachers who will be honored by the scholars will be announced in March 2018.
In 2018, a total of 72 high school and college students will benefit from Daniel Trust Foundation High School Mentoring and College Scholarship Programs. Students who are enrolled in the Foundation’s mentoring program participate in a weekly class for 15 weeks in their junior year focusing on SAT prep and 15 weeks in their senior year focusing on College Readiness, Career Preparation and Financial Literacy. Once students graduate from the mentoring program, they receive a $2,000 scholarship ($500 per year for 4 years) to help them pay for their college textbooks and other related college expenses.
