Daniel Trust Foundation, an award-winning youth development nonprofit organization with offices in Bridgeport, Connecticut and New York City, is pleased to announce that, Karen and Michael Mitri of Fairfield, Connecticut are sponsoring a 4-year scholarship at The 5th Annual Daniel Trust Awards scheduled for June 7, 2018. The Daniel Trust Awards serves as Daniel Trust Foundation’s annual awards dinner, where seniors graduating from the Foundation’s High School Mentoring Program become Scholars in the College Scholarship Program, and local high school teachers get the opportunity to be honored and recognized by the Scholars.

Karen and Michael Mitri have been investing in and supporting the mission of Daniel Trust Foundation since 2017. Karen discovered the Foundation online last year and was instrumental in helping the Foundation secure a significant gift from a Giving Circle in Fairfield, Connecticut. As a former teacher at Bank Street College of Education, Karen understands how important it is to invest in and support young people and their teachers. “I would like to sincerely thank Karen and Michael Mitri for sponsoring a 4-year scholarship at The Daniel Trust Awards for the second year in a row,” said Daniel Trust, President and CEO of Daniel Trust Foundation. “I truly appreciate everything that Karen and Michael have been doing to help the Foundation continue impacting the lives of low-income students and the teachers who educate them.”

In addition to investing in education, Karen and Michael are actively volunteering their time and skills to various nonprofits in the community. Last year, Karen joined Daniel Trust Foundation’s Advisory Board and has been doing everything she can to share the Foundation’s mission and impact with people she knows in her community. With Karen’s recommendation, Rev. Alida Ward, a co-pastor at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church in Fairfield, Connecticut invited Daniel Trust to share his story and work with over 100 high school students in the church’s youth group. The entire team at Daniel Trust Foundation is very grateful to Karen and Michael for their continued support and advocacy for the young people and teachers who benefit from the Foundation's programs and services.
