On this Mother’s Day, Daniel Trust Foundation, an award-winning youth development nonprofit organization with offices in Bridgeport, Connecticut and New York City, would like to wish all the beautiful women who support the Foundation’s mission and vision, a Happy Mother’s Day.
Daniel Trust Foundation would also like to acknowledge and thank Darcy Hicks, a mother of three handsome boys, for her continued advocacy and financial investment in the students and teachers who benefit from the Foundation’s programs and services.
Last year in September, Darcy donated her birthday to Daniel Trust Foundation on Facebook and asked her friends and family to donate to her birthday fundraiser instead of giving her gifts.
Darcy’s birthday fundraiser on Facebook raised much needed awareness for the Foundation as 31 of her friends donated to the campaign and raised enough funds to provide mentorship and financial support to a Scholar in the Foundation’s College Scholarship Program for 3 years.
Because of Darcy’s advocacy and support on social media, one of her close friends recently made a Major Gift to the Foundation. This generous gift will provide mentorship and financial support to a Scholar in the Foundation’s College Scholarship Program for 4 years.

“I have so much love for Darcy and I’m so grateful to her. I was caught by surprise when she reached out to the Foundation last year and told us that she was inspired by our work and that she would be using her birthday to raise awareness and funds for us on Facebook,” said Daniel Trust, President and CEO of Daniel Trust Foundation. “One of the hardest part about my job is securing the revenue and resources needed to carry out our mission and when generous people like Darcy reach out to us, wanting to help us raise much needed funds, it’s a big deal for everyone here at the Foundation.”
Darcy, a resident of Westport, Connecticut, is very passionate about giving back and helping people in need. She recently launched Bridges to Bridgeport, a community page on Facebook she hopes will connect the people of Bridgeport and Westport. “This page is to bring together two communities that my husband and I love: Westport and Bridgeport,” Darcy writes on the Facebook page. “The focus is on what these two places have in common, and how we can take part in all we all have to offer so that we continue to grow, and blast open our definitions of both communities.” To learn more about Bridges to Bridgeport, please click here.
Daniel Trust Foundation invests in and supports low-income students with their educational and professional goals. The Foundation also honors teachers who are making a difference in the lives of their students and communities in which they teach. The Foundation accomplishes its mission through 3-targeted programs towards the needs of the community. These programs are: (1) a high school mentoring program for juniors and seniors, (2) a college scholarship program for graduates of the mentoring program and (3) a teacher recognition program.
