Daniel Trust Foundation, an award-winning youth development nonprofit organization with offices in Bridgeport, Connecticut and New York City, is pleased to announce that Fiona K. Hodgson, Executive Director of The Housatonic Community College Foundation, is sponsoring a 2-year scholarship at The 5th Annual Daniel Trust Awards on June 7, 2018.

The Daniel Trust Awards serves as Daniel Trust Foundation’s annual awards dinner, where students who are graduating from the Foundation’s High School Mentoring Program become Scholars in the Foundation’s College Scholarship Program, and the Scholars get the opportunity to honor and recognize their favorite teachers with The Kathy Silver Award.

Fiona K. Hodgson has been investing in and supporting the mission of Daniel Trust Foundation since 2015. Fiona first learned about the Foundation’s work when she heard Daniel Trust speak at a luncheon hosted by the Bridgeport Public Education Fund. Following Daniel’s speech, Fiona introduced herself and asked how she could support his mission and the rest is history.

In addition to investing her financial resources in Daniel Trust Foundation as a scholarship sponsor and monthly donor, Fiona volunteers her time and skills as a member of the Foundation’s Advisory Board and has helped the Foundation raise thousands of dollars from her network of philanthropic friends.

“To be a successful fundraiser in the nonprofit sector, you have to be a donor yourself. I have never met any other fundraiser in our industry that is as smart, kind and generous as Fiona,” said Daniel Trust, President and CEO of Daniel Trust Foundation. “Over the years, she has introduced my work to so many generous donors like herself and has taught me so much about fundraising. I will always be grateful to Fiona for being a great role model for me.”

As Executive Director of The Housatonic Community College Foundation, Fiona has partnered with Paul Broadie, President of Housatonic Community College, to bring the Community College to a new level of academic excellence, student support and development, and partnerships with the business community. Fiona has created a strategic fundraising plan that includes a Capital Campaign and has built an outstanding team that will accomplish the Foundation’s goals.

The Housatonic Community College Foundation provides financial assistance to the College and its students beyond the fundamentals provided by the State of Connecticut and assists the College in becoming a unique educational resource for its students and the community. The Foundation also serves as a vehicle generating funding for Housatonic student scholarships, student emergency assistance, child care assistance for parents enrolled at Housatonic, program enhancements and support of the Housatonic Museum of Art.
