Daniel Trust, President and CEO of Daniel Trust Foundation and Kim Meier, President of Near & Far Aid
Writing grants is very hard and it takes a lot of time. You can spend weeks writing an application, submit it, and then months later get a notification that says the application was not approved. So, when I submit a grant application and it is approved, I dance like no one is watching.
It’s with great honor I share with you that Near & Far Aid, an all-volunteer fundraising and fund granting organization dedicated to eliminating the causes and effects of poverty in Fairfield County, Connecticut, has awarded Daniel Trust Foundation a $5,000 grant to support our Mentoring Program.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Near & Far Aid Association, I am pleased to inform you that we have voted to approve a $5,000 grant to fund your programs,” said Kim Meier, President of Near & Far Aid. “We extend our very best wishes for continued success in fulfilling your goals.”
I love the saying: “Good things come to those who wait. Better things come to those who don’t give up. And, the best things comes to those who believe.”
I first inquired about how Daniel Trust Foundation can apply for a grant from Near & Far Aid in 2017. Every year, the organization receives hundreds of inquiries and applications from other wonderful nonprofit organizations, so I knew it would be very competitive. But, I had faith. Now, here we are in 2019, and I am sharing with you that we are one of their grantees. What an honor!
This would not have been possible without the support and advocacy of my good friends, Georgia and Charlie Adams. Not only are Georgia and Charlie great ambassadors for Daniel Trust Foundation in the community, but they also invest in our students as Scholarship Sponsors. I am so thankful to them.
Finally, I want to give a big special thank you to Kim Meier and the entire Board of Directors at Near & Far Aid for giving us a chance. I want all of you to know that this generous donation is truly appreciated and it is going to make a big impact in the lives of our students and in the community.
Near & Far Aid works to eliminate poverty by finding and funding programs that seek to achieve lasting change. Each year, the organization makes a positive impact on thousands of people by granting over $1 million to the best local agencies that are targeting poverty and changing lives.
