A message to the community about Coronavirus from Daniel Trust, President and CEO of Daniel Trust Foundation

March 19, 2020

Dear members of the Daniel Trust Foundation community: Greetings from Kigali, Rwanda. I hope this message finds you and your loved ones doing well and staying safe given what is going on around the world.

I want to reach out to you, to let you know how Coronavirus has affected the work you help fund here at Daniel Trust Foundation and the steps our team has taken to protect our students and community.

As you know, Daniel Trust Foundation supports low-income students and their teachers in Bridgeport, CT and New York, NY, and we recently expanded our work in Rwanda by launching two projects: supporting girls’ education and investing in youth entrepreneurship.

To protect the high school juniors who are a part of our Mentoring Program and taking our weekly SAT prep classes this Spring, we have suspended the classes in Bridgeport, CT and New York, NY until school districts reopen and the students are safe to return to school.

Just like many small organizations, Coronavirus has affected our revenue.

I was scheduled to give four speeches to hundreds of people in Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania this month, but they’ve all been postponed or cancelled. These presentations would have produced $7,000 in revenue for the Foundation, which would have made a big impact for our programs.

To be honest, I am scared, but I am hopeful that things will get better soon.

How can you help? If you have the capacity to support our work financially, I invite you to make a donation today by clicking here. More than ever, the hundreds of young women and men who benefit from our programs and services in the United States and Rwanda need your help.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for always being there for our students. Please know that your support means the world to us.

Daniel Trust

President and CEO
