Sapna Rampersaud, an Alumna of our College Scholarship Program, is heading to Washington, D.C.
It’s with great excitement we share with you that Sapna Rampersaud, an Alumna of our College Scholarship Program, is heading to Washington, D.C. this Fall to pursue her law degree at American University Washington College of Law.
This will bring Sapna one step closer to her dream of becoming U.S. President.
Sapna graduated from Brentwood High School as valedictorian and became a scholar in our College Scholarship Program in 2015. After high school, Sapna attended Harvard.
At Harvard, Sapna was a staff writer and editor of the Harvard College Law Review, where she wrote on different topics and taught journalism to aspiring journalism students.
Sapna graduated from Harvard University with a Government and History degree in 2019.
After obtaining her undergraduate degree, Sapna taught English at KIPP Academy through Teach for America while getting her Master’s Degree in Education at Boston University.
Sapna says receiving the Daniel Trust Foundation scholarship made a big impact in her life.
“Receiving the scholarship helped my life in so many ways,” Sapna said in this video interview. “The biggest thing the scholarship did was take away something that I had struggled with my whole childhood, which is financial uncertainty.”
Sapna grew up in a very impoverished neighborhood and family. When she was 7 years old, her parents got divorced and her mom could not afford a lawyer. It was very tough. Seeing the struggles her mother faced inspired her to pursue a career in law.
It has been an honor to follow Sapna’s college, career and life journey for the past 6 years.
“I am so happy and excited to see Sapna continue to pursue her goals and dreams,” said Daniel Trust, President and CEO of Daniel Trust Foundation. “I truly admire her courage and determination. I know she will do well in law school and I cannot wait to see her run for U.S. President in 2040.”
As a scholar in the College Scholarship Program at Daniel Trust Foundation, Sapna received a $2,000 scholarship which was awarded to her over 4 years.
Since 2014, Daniel Trust Foundation has provided mentorship and support to 115 young people in the United States and has awarded over $100,000 in college scholarships.
Majority of the students Daniel Trust Foundation serves in the United States come from low-income backgrounds and many are the firsts in their family to attend and graduate from college.
Daniel Trust Foundation is an award-winning nonprofit organization that supports young people in the United States and Rwanda through various educational programs and digital campaigns.
